Great talk organized by athomewithgrowingold.com: SHEILA HEMBURY, one of the local movers and shakers that I admire the most, will present her reflections this Thursday Nov 15 at 6pm at 145 Guerrero. Sheila is one of the persons that taught me the most. And I keep on learning from her!
Sheila manages an adult day health center in Bay View, one of the poorest and mostly American American neighborhoods in San Francisco, she teaches at San Francisco State, and she is very warm and FUN.
Hi all, – our topics are as diverse as our group. Last time many had to endure ‘archi-talk’ (and hopefully got something out of it). This time the topic is the trials and tribulations and rewards of Adult Day Health Care. Please let us know if you are planning to attend.
November 15, 2012, 6pm to 8pm at at 145 Guerrero (Francis of Assisi Residence) in San Francisco: “The Role of Adult Day Health in the Lives of Frail Seniors and How Budget Issues Have Effected the Work of Adult Day Health Care Centers”, Sheila Hembury, Program Director, Bayview Hunters Point Multipurpose Senior Services.
We have a wonderful presenter. Sheila has been a social worker for almost 45 years, with a special interest in teaching, seniors and people with serious and persistent mental health problems. She learns daily from the elders at Bayview ADHC about growing older with grace and love, and she looks forward to her graduation to Medicare that will come within the next year! She is “over the moon” for President Obama and the Affordable Care Act, and she has dreams of one day being part of a universal single payer system. Medicare for ALL!!!
Looking forward to an animated evening and a great discussion! Best, Susi Stadler
